'Shigure bato' has a very feathery appearance, approaching the look of a dissectum, with very deeply divided leaves and dissected leaf lobes.
In spring, leaves emerge bright red. Summer leaf colour is green with red edging. Fall colours are gold to crimson red. A slow-growing tree, 'Shigure bato' will grow to about 10' tall and less wide.
