A small tree, only growing to proportions slightly larger than a dwarf, 'Sekka yatsubusa' is a green-leaved slow-growing tree that has similarities to 'Seiun kaku' and 'Mikawa yatsubusa'.
Leaves are green with some red edging. Fall colour is red. As the tree gets older it can develop some flattened branching at the ends of the branches. Some other small cultivars also exhibit this curious trait.
'Sekka yatsubusa' may reach 3-4' tall in ten years and 10' tall over time.
