Often referred to as a coral bark maple, 'Sango kaku' is one of several in this category but possibly the most well-known, and for good reason. Young branches on this variety are a bright red and stay that way for more than one season. Even after several years, the branches are a pinky-red.
In the spring, 'Sango kaku' leafs out with a very pleasing chartreuse green leaf colour. Summer leaf colour is green and the fall colour is yellow.
Grows to 25' tall and 20' wide.
