A reticulated leaf-type, 'Gaki no sugi' has very large leaves compared to many other ghost Japanese maples. The leaves in spring are a pink and white/cream giving this tree a variegated and reticulated appearance. Summer leaves will be more of the green and white common with several other reticulated leaf trees, although, like other maples, summer new leaf growth is like a taste of spring all over again! Fall colours are oranges and reds. 'Gaki no sugi' will grow to about 6'x6' in ten years.
