'Shu shidare' is a nice shade of yellow-orange or reddish colour in the spring before changing to green with some orange or purple tips. The fall colour is orange-red. Colours can be more greenish with less sun.
This weeper forms a mushroom-shaped mound that is twice as wide as it is tall. Reaching up to about 3' tall in ten years. 'Shu shidare' would be in a small group of extra winter hardy Japanese maples and has survived to -29C.
