'Octopus' gets it's name namely from the reaching, octopus tentacle-like branches, although the colour at certain points in the growing season are similar to an octopus' colour, as well. Spring and summer colour is a darker red, greening up in hotter area by late summer. Fall colour is a bright, fiery red. Acer palmatum dissectum 'Octopus' may grow to 4-5' tall and 5-6' wide in ten years.
