A beautiful reticulated type of upright, 'Mikazuki' has pink-red leaves in spring accented with purple veining. The contrasting effect of the colours makes for an absolutely gorgeous tree. Leaves will later turn to green and cream but with green veins at this stage. Fall colours are yellows and oranges.
Like most reticulated Japanese maples, protection from hot afternoon sun is recommended. As well, the spring colour is extended when afternoon light is filtered or if the tree is totally shaded. Acer palmatum 'Mikazuki' which means, "crescent moon" will grow to about 8' tall and 5' wide in ten years.
