The original "ghost" of the named ghost series of Japanese maples, Acer palmatum 'First Ghost'. Early spring leaf colour is bright white or cream accented by green veins. The leaves are edged in purple and are very deeply divided.
The leaves turn more to a reticulated green as summer progresses-kind of a green on green. Fall colours are bright oranges and yellows. As with most of the reticulated and variegated trees, protection from hot afternoon sun is best. 'First Ghost' can grow to 10-12' tall and wide in 15 years and although an upright growing tree, the branches do have semi-pendulous habit to them. 'First Ghost' and 'White Peaches' may be the same tree according to some experts.
