One of the rough bark Japanese maples, 'Arakawa' can grow to be a large speciman tree although it is quite popular as bonsai due to the pine-like bark. Leaf colour is a pleasing chartreuse green in spring and a lovely leaf shape. Leaves become green-yellow later in summer and yellow/orange in the fall.
Acer palmatum 'Arakawa' can grow to about 10' tall in ten years and twice that much over time. A very popular tree in Japan, and in our garden, too.
