Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom' is a beautiful broom selection. Most brooms have the middle lobe of each leaf shortened with a rounded tip whereas 'Skeeter's Broom' can demonstrate this characteristic on any lobe of a leaf. Colours are also fantastic throughout the growing season with a bright cherry red in spring and early summer gradually bronzing somewhat in late summer. Finally, brightening up with a bright red in fall.
'Skeeter's Broom' also tends to have a fairly layered leaf growing habit, similar to 'Pixie' or 'Mikawa yatsubusa' and ascending main branches.
This tree may grow to 15' tall and 5-6' wide in ten plus years.
