'Osakazuki' is a great tree as a specimen or focal tree in the landscape. Not only does it become a fairly large Japanese maple but it has outstanding bright red fall colour. It also has great colour during the main part of the growing season where it has a green or bronzed green appearance with contrasting bright red samaras (seeds). Another great attribute are the large leaves. All in all a fabulous tree.
Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' will likely grow to at least 25' tall and wide. A wonderful companion tree for colour is 'Ichigyo ji', which has an equally intense fall colour but yellow.
