Large in terms of Japanese maples is a relative term. But as far as Japanese maples go, 'Vitifolium' is a large tree, growing to 20x20' and in a short period of time, possibly 15' in ten years. Very large leaves, like grape leaves, and this is where the name comes from. The same usual stunning fall colours like other japonicums.
